Memorial blown up in Kabardino-Balkaria

Today in the morning, an explosive device was triggered in the city of Tyrnyauz, Kabardino-Balkaria, at the Eternal Flame of the Memorial. Fortunately, nobody suffered.

"The explosion was triggered at about 4:00 a.m. at the monument erected in the Memory Square in Tyrnyauz, near the monument to Soviet soldiers who perished in the Great Patriotic War, and employees of the Elborus ROVD (District Interior Divisions), who were lost in the course of performing their duties," reports a source from the Elborus ROVD.

According to the source, "the explosion has split a granite slab and damaged the Eternal Flame feeding installation."

According to Valery Kanukov, public prosecutor of the Elborus District, nobody suffered at the explosion in Tyrnyauz. "The Memorial was seriously damaged. A decision is discussed on opening of a criminal case," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Kanukov as saying.
