In Georgia, defence of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia accuses police of falsifying detention protocol
The defence of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, son of the first president of Georgia, who was sentenced to 9.5 years of imprisonment for a murder attempt, brings a claim against the patrol police challenging the legality of the detention procedure.
Let us remind you that on September 7 the Tbilisi Appeal Court resumed the trial on the case of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, son of the first president of Georgia.
"We have received the results of the alternative examination, according to which the protocol compiled at the moment of my client's detention was falsified. In particular, the date of the document was forged, and signatures in it don't coincide," Keti Bekauri, Tsotne's advocate, asserts.
The conclusion of the alternative examination will be presented to the appeal court.
Ms Bekauri also said that a parallel claim will be brought against the public prosecutor, who had used the false documentation in litigation, the "News-Georgia" reports.
The lawyers of the defence also state that under the pressure of the prosecutor's office the administration of the prison hospital, where their client is kept, obstructs his return to litigation.
According to Keti Bekauri, Maizer Gvichiani, acting director of the prison hospital would not sign and seal the permit to convoy the defendant to the court, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
