Volgograd Region: number of WNE patients is over 200
Within the week the number of the West Nile Encephalitis (WNE) patients in the Volgograd Region went up by 36 persons, the local "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision) Department has reported.
On August 26 it was reported that the number of WNE casualties in Russia reached six: five persons died in the Volgograd Region and one - in the Rostov one.
"For the period from July 16 to September 1, 206 WNE cases were registered, of them, 162 cases - in Volgograd," says the statement.
According to the Department, people over 60 with additional chronic diseases suffer especially, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
