In the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania (RNO-A) a verdict has been passed to a woman-employee of the exchequer, who extorted a bribe from the head of one of the departments of the prosecutor's office. The offender was sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment.

The Sovietskiy District Court of Vladikavkaz has passed a verdict on the criminal case against Larissa Bepbieva, senior treasurer of the Department of the Federal Exchequer for the republic. On the basis of the proofs presented by the public prosecutor, she was found guilty of committing a crime stipulated by part 1, Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (bribe-taking).

It was established that Bepbieva extorted a bribe of 16,000 roubles from the acting head of the division for planning of labour, financing, bookkeeping and reporting of the prosecutor's office of North Ossetia. Allegedly, she demanded the money for further delivery to the exchequer bosses.

Besides, Bepbieva told the employee of the prosecutor's office that he should pay her deductions of 5 percent from every sum transferred to the prosecutor's office (except for wages and taxes) and 10 percent from any sum delivered in cash under a check. In case her claims were rejected, she threatened that the prosecutor's office will have problems with spending budgetary funds.

The court has sentenced Larissa Bepbieva to 2.5 years of imprisonment with serving the term in a colony-settlement. Besides, as reported today by the website of the State Office of Public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation, she is deprived of the right to take any positions in governmental bodies for the period of one year.
