Six persons died from WNE in south of Russia

The number of victims of the West Nile Encephalitis (WNE) in Russia has reached six: five persons died in Volgograd and one in the Rostov Region, said Gennady Onischenko, Chief State Sanitary Inspector of Russia.

Let us remind you that according to the data of local "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision), as of today the Volgograd Region has 170 registered WNE patients.

"In total, there were six lethal cases: five in the Volgograd Region and one in the Rostov one," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Mr Onischenko as saying.

Today it became known that a WNE-infected woman was revealed also in the Krasnodar Territory. She is a pensioner of 76, living in the Kalinin farmstead, Krylov District, located near the border with the Rostov Region.
