Charge of murdering Umar Israilov presented to three suspects in Austria
The Austrian Office of Public Prosecutor has presented a charge to three natives of Chechnya, suspected of murdering – in January 2009 in Vienna – Umar Israilov, a former security of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov.
Umar Israilov was granted political asylum in Austria in 2006. In the end of 2006, he filed a suit to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) accusing President of Chechnya of regular use of torture and abductions. On January 13, 2009, Israilov was killed. Human rights defenders believe that Israilov was a key witness at the trial initiated against Kadyrov by the European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights.
According to the spokesman of the Public Prosecutor's Office, now the fourth Chechen is searched, who, as inspectors assume, shot Israilov dead, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports with reference to The Canadian Press.
