New Armenian NPP is worth USD 5 billion

The Russian party will make direct investments into construction of a new nuclear power unit in Armenia; and Russian companies will be directly engaged in the works, as Tigran Sarkisyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, told journalists.

According to his story, the idea in the agreement on construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP), signed in the course of the visit of Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to Yerevan, is that Russian companies will take part in the investment programme.

Mr Sarkisyan has noted that according to estimates of Armenian experts the cost of a new NPP will make 5 billion US dollars, and its construction will give new quality to the country's energy system.

"It will be a modern NPP, able to essentially increase the Armenia's generation capacities and tell positively on the whole national industry," said the Premier.
