Over 100,000 Sochi residents lost electricity and water supplies for about 24 hours
On August 15-16, it took local electricians almost 24 hours to repair a broken electric cable. In some city districts, where water delivery depends on electricity, people remained without water and electric power in 40-degree heat.
Local residents attribute such accidents to the chaotic nature of the civil work conducted in Sochi in preparation of the Olympiad, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
In their turn, the authorities of Sochi assert that frequent electricity cut-offs have to do with additional electric appliances, used in summer and overloading the city's energy system.
