Residents of Kabardino-Balkaria complain to rights defenders of water supply problems
Residents of Shordakovo village, Zolskiy District of Kabardino-Balkaria, have addressed the Republic's Human Rights Centre with a complaint against poor water delivery in several village streets. The complaint, bearing 50 signatures, says that Shordakovo residents drink life-hazardous water.
"For 15 years already our village experiences breaks in water supply; and for 10 years in Shkolnaya Street only half of the houses receive water. Residents of Fruktovaya and Komsomolskaya Streets have forgotten when they last saw water from their taps, although last autumn they laid new pipes in these two streets. They promised to replace pipes in Shkolnaya Street, but no works are conducted until now. They are bringing water to us for all our needs. Be it a funeral or a wedding - we have to bring water, whether we do some construction - we have to bring water, when we want to give water to livestock - we have to bring water again," the complaint further runs.
It also says that people have to bring water from the spring located at the distance of one kilometre. This problem, according to residents, persists for more than 10 years already.
