North Ossetia: private drivers rally against public transport
Today, drivers of private fixed-route taxis blocked several streets in Vladikavkaz in protest against operation of new buses owned by the administration in passenger routes.
"Today, 18 Hyundai buses appeared in the streets of Vladikavkaz and started working along two trolleybus routes. It provoked mass discontent of private fixed-route taxi drivers. From 8:00 a.m. they split into groups and blocked the routes of the new buses in different parts of the city," the administration of Vladikavkaz reports.
According to a source in the administration, employees of the republic's GAI (State Traffic Safety Inspectorate) and the MIA (Ministry of Internal Affairs) were involved in unblocking the streets, the "Interfax" reports.
