WCGN apologizes to Ossetians for Saakashvili's actions
The public organization named "The World Congress of Georgian Nations" (WCGN) has apologized - on behalf of its 420,000 members - to citizens of South Ossetia for the actions of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili in August 2008.
The statement addressed to the leadership of South Ossetia says that because of "Saakashvili's criminal adventure" two years ago "blood was shed of many nationals - Ossetians, Georgians and Russians."
"On behalf of 420,000 members of the World Congress of Georgian Nations from 22 countries of the world I bring apologies to citizens of South Ossetia for the sufferings they had to face for the guilt of the overreached Tbilisi politicians," the "Interfax" quotes the address signed by Alexander Ebralidze, the President of the Congress.
The World Congress of Georgian Nations (WCGN) is a public association of Georgians, living in Georgia and abroad. It was founded in March 2009 and is based in Vienna. Its Russian branch is in St Petersburg.
