Early Christianity church found in Georgia

Ruins of the church dated back to the 5th-6th centuries were found in Georgia in the territory of Dzabvu village, Ozurget District.

According to Doctor of History Vazha Sadradze, head of the archaeological expedition, as a result of excavations, they have already revealed the western gate of the church and the altar.

"The external shape of the sanctuary and the Bolnisi Cross found there allow assuming that the church dates back to that period," he said.

The "Georgia-Online" reports that the Round (Bolnisi) Cross (the 5th century) appeared for the first time in the eastern facade of the church Bolnisi Sioni, built in the end of the 5th century in Kvemo Kartli - historical province of Georgia in the epoch of Tsar Vakhtang Gorgasali.
