As reported by the Investigatory Department of Russia's ICPO for the Stavropol Territory, inspectors have initiated a criminal case against Sergey Demidenko, former mayor of the city of Kislovodsk, who is suspected of service abuse.

"The preliminary investigation has established that Demidenko, while in position of head of Kislovodsk in 2001-2006, provided illegally in 2005, out of his mercenary interest, a land plot of 1800 square meters, located in Category I mountain-sanitary protection of the resort, for building a boarding house to a limited liability company," the ICPO reports.

The case has been opened by the Investigatory Division for the city of Kislovodsk under part 2, Article 285 of the Criminal Code (official misconduct against official duties), which assumes deprivation of freedom for the term of up to seven years, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.
