Opposition rapper Noise MC arrested in Volgograd

The Volgograd Court has arrested Ivan Alekseev, a well-known rapper, singer and composer, also known as "Noise MC", for 10 days on the charge of hooliganism.

According to his impresario David Kazaryan, the musician was detained on July 31 after 10 in the evening. The pretext was his performance at the festival "Snickers Urbania", where the rapper read his freestyle with critical statements about the militia. After the concert Noise MC went out to give his autographs; then, militiamen came up to him and took him away to the OVD (Interior Division) without explaining the reasons. Later he was accused under part 1, Article 20.1, of the Code of Administrative Offences (disorderly conduct).

The trial took place today and ended in 10 days of administrative arrest, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

Noise MC is known for his active civil position. In particular, in February 2010 he wrote a track "Mercedes S666. Give Road to Chariot", placed in his clip on YouTube, which was a comment on the road accident in Lenin Avenue in Moscow, where Anatoly Barkov, Lukoil vice-president, was a party.

In that accident Barkov's Mercedes crushed into a Citroen with two obstetricians inside - Vera Sidelnikova and Olga Aleksandrina. Both women perished.

In his scandalous clip "Mersedes S666" Noise MC called the public to strive for an open investigation into that road accident. Besides, the rapper directly accused Barkov of corruption.
