Adygea: case of Karachai-Circassians accused of extremism sent to court
In Maikop, the capital of Adygea, a group of students-natives of Karachai-Circassia, accused of offending and beating a Russian guy will soon face the trial.
The incident happened at night on October 6, 2009, in central Maikop. According to the investigation, some guys began offending an unknown Russian guy, who refused to give cigarettes to them; they voiced out their scornful attitude to him as a representative of another nationality. After that, according to inspectors of the Prosecutor's Office of Adygea, students began beating the young man, while continuing humiliating him.
A criminal case was opened on the given fact under the articles of "hooliganism on motives of national hatred" and "inflicting slight harm to one's health from hooligan intentions, on motives of national hatred".
