Picket against monetization of privileges held in Elista
Today, in Elista, near the building of the Kalmyk State University, opposite the House of Government of Kalmykia, a picket was held against the republic's law on monetization of privileges coming into effect from August 1.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the Square of the Seven Days' Pagoda at the House of the Government, where the picketers had initially planned to hold their protest action, was blocked under the pretext of repairs. Militiamen tried to ban the picket saying that the place was improper. However, after the protests of the picketers, they just watched the order.
Some 150 persons took part in the action. Nobody from the authorities ever came up to them.
