North Ossetia to hold first national-cultural contest of Ossetian beer
The first nationwide contest of Ossetian beer "Iron Bagany-2010" is aimed towards revival of the traditions of house brewing and attraction of the population's interest to the national historic heritage, the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of North Ossetia has announced.
The contest will be held from August 2 to September 30 and cover all the dwelling settlements of the republic.
"All the contest participants in respective dwelling settlements will be supplied - timely and in due volumes - by the general sponsor of the raw material for making beer; then, samples will be collected and brought to the tasting commission," Zalina Abayeva, head of the press service of the above ministry, has reported.
All the contest participants will make 3 litres of beer and deliver them to the tasting commission. Winners will be defined by the outcomes of professional tasting and assessment of the samples by the five-point scale under the following three criteria - colour, taste and bitterness.
