Georgia: refugees from Abkhazia demand better living conditions

Today in Tbilisi, near the Avlabar President's residence, refugees from Abkhazia held a rally, demanding from the head of the state to provide them with decent housing conditions; this was said in a special statement delivered to the presidential administration by the participants of the protest action.

They state that if the authorities of Georgia fail to ensure worthy housing facilities for them, they will apply for refugee status in the USA and EU countries.

"We demand to satisfy our housing demands and we categorically demand to present all the information on how financial help of donor organizations to refugees was spent, starting since 1992. Otherwise, protest actions will be held in front of representative offices of the United Nations, OSCE, EU and US embassy," runs the statement.

The document also notes that the next protest action will take place on July 23 at the building of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia, the "News-Georgia" reports.
