Sukhumi airport failed to become international

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) made a decision not to award the international status to the airport in Sukhumi. The ICAO has reiterated the recognition of the united air space of Georgia.

The ICAO also reported that the Sukhumi airport can receive the international status only with the consent of the Georgian party.

In this context the Minister of Economy of Georgia Vera Kobaliya has reminded that those passengers, who want to get to Sukhumi, can use the airport in Poti (the distance between the cities is 184 km), the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports.
