Dagestan: Chief Engineer of "Sulak Hydropower Cascade" kidnapped

In Shamilkala village, Untsukul District of Dagestan, unidentified persons kidnapped Vladimir Redkin, Chief Engineer of the Company "Sulak Hydropower Cascade".

Under available data, the incident happened on July 22. The kidnappers took him out of house and brought away to some unknown place. Law enforcement bodies do not exclude that kidnapping was pre-planned with the aim to extort ransom.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source in law enforcement bodies that militants extort money from many heads of Dagestan companies, including the above one; therefore, Redkin's kidnapping may have to do, according to the source, with a refusal to pay or with late payment.
