In Azerbaijan, residents of flooded villages demand from authorities to accelerate restoration
On July 20, some 100 residents of the flooded villages of the Sabirabad and Saatlin Districts of Azerbaijan came to the President's administration with a demand to speed up restoration of their houses and increase compensations for the damage caused by floods.
"There were about 100 of us. We came to the reception office of the President's administration and demanded to meet the President to tell him about the problems they face after the May flooding," Ilham Amiraslanov, a resident of Askerbeili village, Sabirabad District, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Residents lost everything - their animals, crops and utensils. How can a family recover the damage for 800 or 1000 manats, even if they are presented a new house?" said Lazym Umudov, a resident of Dalilyar village, Saatlin District.
According to his story, for almost 2 months people cannot return to their houses, since 8 villages of the above two districts are still under water.
On the outcomes of the meeting, the residents were assured that in the next few days Sabirabad will be visited by Kyamaledin Geidarov, Minister for Emergencies, and representatives of the presidential administration to study the situation in place and take measures.
Now, the suffered residents are temporarily accommodated in schools in the city of Sabirabad and at their relatives in the neighbouring villages.
