Constitutional Commission approves draft amendments to Constitution of Georgia
The draft of the new Constitution of Georgia was adopted by the majority of the members of the State Constitutional Commission: 44 votes were cast for the amendments, and only three members voted against.
Now the draft of constitutional amendments will go for consideration to the President. Finally, the Parliament of Georgia should approve the amended Constitution.
The New Constitution is focused on strengthening the role of the supreme country's legislative body and restricting the scope of President's functions.
The Parliament will start considering the draft of the new Constitution in a month after its publication in the press.
