Court session on Vaan Khalafyan's death held in Armenia

On July 15, Armenia held a judicial session on the case of Vaan Khalafyan, 24, who died in the police station.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 6 the hearing on this case at the court of general jurisdiction of the Kotaik District was postponed till July 15, since the advocate of Khalafyan's assignee - his uncle Amik Khalafyan - failed to appear in the courtroom.

On July 15, evidences at the trial were given by Vaan Khalafyan's brother Vardan, his cousin Arthur and head of the preventive division of the Charentsavan Police Department Kamo Mirumyan.

Seda Safaryan, advocate of the main defendant - head of the criminal search of the Charentsavan police, Police Major Ashot Arutyunyan, accused of inciting Vaan Khalafyan to suicide, - petitioned to the court about holding the court session behind the closed doors. Advocates of other defendants joined this petition. The prosecution party, assignees and the advocate of the victim were against it. The court rejected the petition of defendants' advocates.

Because of the end of the working day the judicial session was postponed and reappointed on 12:00 a.m. local time on July 21, the "ARMENIA Today" reports.
