First vice-premier of Dagestan meets relatives of his compatriot detained in Azerbaijan

The blocking of the Federal Highway "Baku-Rostov" planned for July 15 in protest against detention in Azerbaijan of Usman Garisov, a resident of Dagestan, sued for drug contraband and use, did not take place because Rizvan Kurbanov, First Vice-Premier of Dagestan, invited local residents to a meeting.

"We gathered people to block the road, but a representative of the administration of the Kayakent District came to us and invited to the head of the District Nariman Abdurazakov. The latter told us that Rizvan Kurbanov, First Vice-Premier of Dagestan, was waiting for us in Makhachkala. We went there, and Kurbanov at once received us, great thanks to him. He listened to us attentively and promised help, including from the head of the republic Magomedsalam Magomedov," Umar Garisov, detainee's brother and resident of Karanaiaul village, Kayakent District of Dagestan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In his turn, First Vice-Premier of Dagestan Rizvan Kurbanov said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that although "the new authorities are interested in the fate of every resident of the republic," the leaders of Dagestan are not going to interfere with the course of the trial, since only the court shall define the guilt of the detainee. "The main point is that the court should be fair and impartial," Mr Kurbanov has noted.

On July 15, Umar Garisov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that his litigation goes with numerous violations; therefore, in protest relatives and friends of the detainee were going to block the Federal Highway "Baku-Rostov".

  • Lawyers comment on scandal with equipment sale on behalf of "Akhmat" special unit

Lawyers have noted that it is practically impossible to hold the scammers accountable for the fact that they had sold stolen property, posing themselves as fighters of the "Akhmat" Chechen special unit.
