Georgian CEC: re-election has had no influence on the election results

Re-election of local self-government bodies may only influence the elections under the majority system, it has no effect whatsoever on the proportional system. This has been stated to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Georgy Mchedlidze, secretary of the Georgian central election commission.

For reference, re-election was held on June 12 in six precincts: No 47 in Sagaredzho constituency, No 24 in Mtshet constituency, No 13 in Mesti constituency, No 15 in Dmanis constituency, No 25 in Tsalk constituency and No 13 of Oni constituency. The results of May 30 voting had been invalidated due to revealed violations.

"The re-election under the majority system has no material impact on the final result. Nothing has changed in the long run, the same candidates who were leading previously have won the election", added Mchedlidze.

According to the central election commission, no serious violations have been registered during the re-election. The information of the election administration has been confirmed by the "Human Rights Center". According to the center, re-election in the Sagaredzho precinct has also been held without violations.
