Advocate of defendants in Nalchik attack case complains of impossibility to defend them
The today's session at the trial on the attack on power agencies of Nalchik on October 13, 2005, started with an incident: lawyer Zalim Dzagashtov refused to present his bag for inspection at the entrance to the courtroom, left it at the securities, entered the room without documents and made a declaration about his impossibility to defend his clients.
"I'm not able to defend my clients, since I was illegally asked to present my personal belongings to inspection. I refused to obey and came in here without the necessary documents," said Mr Dzagashtov and added that he would not object against inspections if not only advocates but also state accusers would have been inspected.
He has also emphasized that there is no federal law, which prescribes inspection of advocate's personal things, as the advocate's secrecy can be thus broken.
Lawyer Dzagashtov was supported by advocate Madina Dyshekova; she was also discontented by the inspection procedure. Galina Gorislavskaya, who chairs the trial, has promised that the advocates will receive written explanations about the rules of inspection.
