War on extremism impossible without management and education reforms, experts believe

The participants of the conference "Freedom of Conscience and Faith" held on May 27 in Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, emphasized the need of consolidation of the society before the terrorist threat.

Anas-Hadji Pshikhachev, Mufti of Kabardino-Balkaria, said that Russia was deliberately depicted as an Islam enemy, although, unlike many other countries, Russia has one of the best conditions for exercising the Moslem faith.

"Every year, the US Congress prepares reports that Russia is the country, where the freedom of worship is violated. It is used by extremists, for whom human life - the supreme value - is just token money. Incessant militants' actions in the republic are another evidence," said the Mufti.

In the opinion of Maksud Sadikov, Director of the North-Caucasian University Centre of Islamic Education and Sciences of Makhachkala (Dagestan), Russian authorities frequently fail to use the available opportunities to put an end to terrorism.

"To conquer terrorism, we need to put things in order in the sphere of management; and for zombied young men we need centres of psychological help. While we hesitate on whether to introduce religion basics in schools or not, young men will continue leaving for forests," believes Sadikov.
