Mudslides in North Ossetia kill three persons
In North Ossetia, powerful mudslides forced the Mairamadag River to overflow the banks. Traditionally, on weekends plenty of people come to have their rest there; and as reported today by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two girls and a man were drowned in the river.
Let us remind you that in several districts of North Ossetia the state of emergency was introduced because of destructive consequences of the storm rain. Weather forecasters announced a storm warning.
On Sunday, June 6, North Ossetia was poured by torrential rains, which provoked stone landslides in mountain roads and powerful mudslides. The peak of high water was at night on Monday. As a result of calamity roads were washed away and several bridges destroyed.
As reported by the "Regions.ru" with reference to the spokesman of the North-Ossetian MIA, the two female casualties - Victoria Togoeva, 26, and Christina Kelekhsaeva, 22, - were in Suargomi Gorge and tried to hide in a car from the downpour.
The third casualty was a resident of the Kirovo village, aged 41, who also could not get out of the storming water.
The bodies of all the casualties were found in Mairamadag in the course of search and rescue actions, the ITAR-TASS reports.
