Imereti residents stop their hunger strike

After a meeting with officials of the Krasnodar Territory, five residents of the Imereti Lowland of Sochi stopped their hunger strike.

A group of residents of the Imereti Lowland, whose houses got into the Olympic construction zone, went on hunger strike on May 19. The protesters expressed disagreement with the appraisal of their land plots made by the officials of the Krasnodar Territory.

Yesterday, on June 11, the Imereti hunger-strikers were visited by deputy Sochi Mayor and deputy head of the Olympic Department of the Krasnodar Territory. After a more than three-hour dialogue, the protesters believed the promises of the officials to present, in the near future, the documents asked by resettlers on appraisal of their real estates and the layout of the territory of Olympic construction.

Besides, the protesters were promised that their claims would be considered individually and satisfied, whenever possible, as Radio Liberty reports.

At the same time, back on May 21 the Department for Enforcing Powers at Preparation to Olympiad-2014 of the Krasnodar Territory stated that those dissatisfied may always go to court, as appraisal is not a subject of negotiations with experts of Department and the State Corporation (SC) "Olympstroy", the "Live Kuban" resource notes.
