Azerbaijan: examination results announced at Fatullaev's trial

On May 26, the Garadag District Court of Baku continued considering the case of earlier convicted journalist Einullah Fatullaev, this time accused of illegal drug storage. The session heard the results of three different examinations.

Judge Ismail Khalilov announced the conclusions of the chemical-biological, narcological and forensic-medical examinations made on Fatullaev. The first two were conducted by the Ministry of Public Health, the third one - by the Ministry of Justice.

According to the first conclusion, made on the basis of his blood and urine assays, traces of drugs were detected in Fatullaev's organism. According to the second examination, Fatullaev is not a drug addict and needs no treatment. And according to the third one, the substance allegedly found in Fatullaev's belongings is heroin.

Isakhan Ashurov, journalist's defender, moved a petition and asked to hold an independent complex examination on the case.

Einullah Fatullaev himself treated the conclusion to be a "falsification", which has nothing to do with reality.
