Aslan Maskhadov's son publishes a book "My Father - Chechen President"

A book by Anzor Maskhadov "My Father - Chechen President" was published in Norway in 3000 copies. The author - the son of Aslan Maskhadov, President of the non-recognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (ChRI), - told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about his work.

"The idea to write a book about my father appeared long ago: I wanted to refute the numerous labels and tags attached on him; however, I was too busy. After my father was assassinated in March 2005, I understood: the time has come. It's my great pain, when people say that he was a terrorist. They don't know his personality from within. The book tells about this situation, about this conflict, and about Aslan Maskhadov as he actually was," said Anzor Maskhadov.

"I don't like when they say: you are guilty. I wanted to tell about our mistakes and those made by Russia," said the author and emphasized that book is not only about his father, but also about "the tragedy that had touched two nations because of someone's ambitions to start killing each other - the Chechen conflict."

The book consists of 26 chapters, each dealing with a certain Aslan Maskhadov's life period. In the near future, according to the author, 2000 more copies will be published. So far, the book is in the Norwegian language only, but negotiations on translation are already on, and the author hopes that by the end of August 2010 the book will appear in the Russian and English languages.
