Russian border guards deny involvement in firing of customs officers in Abkhazia

Russia's FSB border service administration in Republic of Abkhazia has called provocative the statements made by the Georgian side on involvement of Russian military in the incident, which killed one officer of Abkhaz customs and injured another two.

Disseminated by the Georgian media information of the fire exchange between Russian troops and Abkhaz customs has nothing to do with reality", Chief of Border service information section Vasily Malaev told a correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot".

He stressed that all issues of interaction between the Russian border guards, the border guard detachment of Abkhaz security forces and the State customs service of Abkhazia are properly fine-tuned. Malaev called this incident a provocation committed with a purpose to clash the Russian and Abkhaz border services.
