In Azerbaijan, three villages more went under water

In Azerbaijan, the three villages more were flooded in Gadzhygabulsky district - Meiniman, Khilya and Alatli. Meiniman alone numbers 1,500 residents and about 500 houses.

"The situation with Azerbaijani river flood is critical", minister of environment and natural resources of Azerbaijan Huseyngulu Bagirov told the journalists.
Floods occurred in 40 districts of Azerbaijan due to lasting rainfalls. According to preliminary data, about 20,000 houses were flooded, above 50,000 hectares of cultivated land and pastures were under water. More than 300 houses were destroyed; about 2,000 are in emergency condition, main infrastructure and social objects became unusable.

Bagirov informed that abundant rain fall is in forecast for the coming days that would further the water level increase in the rivers, Trends reports.

One of the named reasons for this disastrous situation with the Kura River rise in the Azerbaijani regions is that the river mouth has not been cleaned for many years, the paper writes.

For the moment, emergency ministry and relative bodies are taking the adequate steps to address this situation, APA IA reports.
