Chechnya: Imams who failed attestation to be dismissed

The republic has launched a check of the work of Imams of mosques and Kadis (Islamic judges) for the conformity to the posts and knowledge of theological sciences. For example, by the results of such check, the Spiritual Department of Moslems (SDM) has dismissed Mukhaid Tsakaev, Imam of the mosque located in Ulyanovskoe village of the Naur District.

"The Muftiat has held an expanded sitting with participation of the clergy, where a decision was passed to inspect the republic's mosques and medreses and check the work of the Kadis. It was also announced that those Imams, Kadis and medrese teachers who lack the necessary level of religious knowledge and fail to work properly would be dismissed," the SDM of Chechnya reports.

The Department asserts that work in this direction continues and will cover all the dwelling settlements of the republic.
