Head of Chechen MIA calls power agents to be more active with militants' relatives
In the end of last week, a meeting was held in Grozny dedicated to the outcomes of the work of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the first four months of this year. Minister Ruslan Alkhanov stated that relatives of the members of the armed underground are accomplices of their crimes; therefore, they should bear the same responsibility as militants.
Speaking about the activities of his Ministry in the reporting period, Mr Alkhanov expressed his dissatisfaction with the work of some militia structural subdivisions and noted a decrease in crime solving, poor work towards revealing of economic crimes, reduction in solving crimes committed by members of militants' armed formations, and rise in the crimes accomplished by persons in the state of alcoholic or narcotic intoxication and minors.
Mr Alkhanov noted that President of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov had set the task of final liquidation of the remaining militants.
The Minister also demanded from city and district militia divisions to strengthen their work with the population. "Every bandit has his relatives and friends who help him with foodstuffs. By doing so, they become accomplices of the crimes committed by militants and, consequently, should bear same responsibility before the law. Their help to bandits is our drawback and our omission," said Mr Alkhanov.
