Moslems take part in rally in Moscow against terror and Caucasian phobia

Today in Moscow, in the Taras Shevchenko Quay, about two thousand young Moslems and believers of other confessions rallied to hold a meeting-march.

The action took place under the patronage of Sheikh Muhammad Karachai, chairman of the "Darul-Arkam" Moscow-based religious community of Moslems, and Boris Yakemenko, head of the Orthodox corps of the movement "Nashi".

Mr Yakemenko, who opened the event, noted that terrorists want to intimidate the Russian society and split it. "It's all the same to these murderers that the tragedy in Moscow metro in the eyes of many ordinary people, untutored in political and religious complexities, throws a shadow on Islam and fair devout Moslems. They don't worry that after their crimes someone sees a Moslem man or woman and prefers to go to the opposite side of the street. They don't care that after the massacre and their 'presentations' in the Internet many people can start viewing the Caucasus as the birthplace of terrorists and focus of harm and hatred," he said.

Other participants of the action made similar statements. The action ended with a march, where the law and order were ensured by OMON (special militia) fighters.
