Famous actress Monique van de Ven visited Ingushetia

On October 22, a famous actress Monique van de Ven arrived in Ingushetia for an informal visit as a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador.

The actress says the purpose of her visit was to get acquainted with activities of the officials from the UNICEF office in Ingushetia and to examine the situation in camps for Chechen refugees concerning organization of studies and spare time for children.

After some meetings with the UNISEF office staff in Ingushetia, Monique van de Ven visited the camp "Sputnik" in the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya, Ingushetia's Sunzha district. This camp is one of the largest camps, taking a number of refugees living in it. It is known that the UNICEF monitors a number of educational institutions in places of compact residence for Chechen refugees on the territory of Ingushetia. For example, about 10 tents, in which over 700 children of displaced persons study, have been mounted in "Sputnik" with the assistance of this organization. Three years ago the UNICEF gave money to build a kindergarten, which is functioning now. More over, a number of programs to organize children's spare time are implemented in the camp ? for instance, the dancing group "Marsho" has been created and different children?s creativity clubs have been opened.

"The organization of work with children is on a good level here. On the whole, I?m satisfied," the actress told journalists.
