"National Council of Georgia" nominates Zviad Dzidziguri for Tbilisi Mayor
Zviad Dzidziguri, leader of the Conservative Party of Georgia, has won the preliminary election (primaries) as the united candidate from the inter-partisan oppositional association "National Council of Georgia".
"The victory in primaries means not only my victory; it's the victory of Davitashvili, Maisashvili and the "National Council" as a whole. Journalists ask me, what my hopes are. I'll answer that I hope for His Majesty the People," said Mr Dzidziguri.
The primaries were held on April 6-8 with participation of 12,000 voters, of whom 5833 voted for Dzidziguri (51.9 percent) and 5414 persons – for the leader of the People's Party Koba Davitashvili (48.1 percent). Now, the "National Council" is going to register Zviad Dzidziguri as candidate for the Mayor of Tbilisi for the election on May 30 and Koba Davitashvili – as a nominee for the Chairman of the Sakrebulo (City Assembly).
