Murat Kardanov, defendant in Nalchik attack case, transferred to home arrest

Under inspector's statement, Murat Kardanov, a defendant in the case dealing with the events on October 13, 2005, in Nalchik, a resident of Zolukokoazhe village, was released to home arrest. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from duly informed circles. Now, Murat Kardanov is taking his treatment at the Republic's Anti-Tubercular Clinic.

Let us remind you that before December 30, 2008, Murat Kardanov was regarded as a casualty. The criminal case has a conclusion of the forensic-genetic identification examinations according to which, body No. 82 was identified, with probability of 99.9999 percent, as belonging to Murat Kardanov.

Meanwhile, Murat Kardanov, according to his relatives, for all three years had been living in his house in Zolukokoazhe. As asserted by his mother - Lydia Kardanova, - Murat became an occasional participant, and, more likely, just a witness of the attack; he could not take any part in the attack on Nalchik for the reason that he is a heavily sick person, moves slowly and can breathe with the help of an inhaler. According to the medical conclusion issued to Kardanov at a Moscow clinic, in 2003 he underwent his lung surgery - one lung and all the ribs on left rear part of his thorax were amputated.

"For several times I moved petitions asking to change Murat Kardanov's freedom restriction form, but every time my petitions were rejected," said lawyer Sultan Atalikov has told. "But then, inspectors themselves initiated such change, and the Prosecutor's Office supported the decision."

In the opinion of the lawyer, the fibrous-cavernous tuberculosis, diagnosed in his client, is among those heavy diseases, which liberate a person from criminal liability.
