St Petersburg presents film "Aldy. With No Limitation Period"

On Friday, February 5, St Petersburg was the venue of the first run and discussion of film "Aldy. With No Limitation Period", showing the events ten years ago, when on February 5, 2000, in a clean-up ("zachistka") in Novye Aldy village in Chechnya, conducted by the St Petersburg OMON (special militia), 56 peaceful residents were killed.

The film was shown within the action "With good and peace from St Petersburg", organized by the city residents, who could not stay indifferent to the tragedy in Aldy. On the day of the anniversary of the tragedy, similar actions were held in Moscow and Grozny.

The project "With good and peace from St Petersburg" is implemented in the city for the third year. The city dwellers got united with the aim "to return good name to St Petersburg and its residents and establish kind relations with Aldy residents."

Another action - "St Petersburg residents - to Aldy children" - was organized with the aim to show St Petersburg to Aldy residents as the city of culture, spirituality, goods and peace. It is planned to invite children from Aldy to excursions to St Petersburg.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report. Among the victims have been Abubakar Mestoev and Umar Chichaev, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from Northern Caucasus, reports Shamil Khadulaev, the chair of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan.

  • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine. Meanwhile, Ruslan Mitrofan requested the compensation in the amount of 100,000 roubles.
