Attempt on imam committed in Dagestan

On December 14 in the evening, in Khasavyurt, unidentified persons shot Taifur Eldarkhanov, imam of one of local mosques. Now, the wounded churchman is in hospital.

The attempt on his life was undertaken at about half past six in the evening in the crossing of the Kazbekova and Streets in Khasavyurt, where the criminals made several shots at the imam and disappeared.

Taifur Eldarkhanov with a through wound of his shoulder was taken to the Khasavyurt City Hospital. According to doctors, there is no threat to his life, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

It is not the first attempt on a religious figure in Dagestan.

On November 19, in Starye Miatli village, Kizilyurt District, unidentified persons shelled Ibragim Abakarov, mullah of the local mosque. On November 1, Tinamagomed Ramazanov, imam of the mosque in Bavtugai village, Kizilyurt District, was killed. On October 3, in the Federal Highway "Kavkaz", Murtazali Magomedov, a teacher of the Islamic University in Khasavyurt, was shot dead by unidentified persons. On July 18, a murder attempt on Islam Medzhidov, deputy imam of the Dzhuma-mosque of Buinaksk, was committed. And on May 25, Ahmed Tagaev, deputy mufti of Dagestan, was assassinated.
