In September National Assembly of Armenia will ratify Protocol 6 of European Convention abolishing death penalty in republic

Armenian National Assembly Speaker Artur Bagdasarian received PACE co-rapporteurs Jerzy Jaskiernia, Rene Andre, and Valery Klamer yesterday.

As the National Assembly press-cutting service informed, the question of how Armenia meets its engagements undertaken to the Council of Europe was in the focus of the interlocutors' attention. Artur Bagdasarian underlined Armenian authorities were full of political resolution to meet engagements undertaken.

In particular, in September the National Assembly of Armenia will ratify the sixth protocol of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, which stipulates the abolition of the death penalty in the republic. The head of the Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Affairs Armen Rustamian stated it during his meeting with the PACE monitoring group members yesterday.
