Uve Schram: European Commission to disclose its report on war in South Ossetia

Uve Schram, German diplomat and deputy head of the European Commission International Investigation Commission on the Causes of the Five-day War in South Ossetia in August 2008, has spent three days in Tbilisi. According to him, the European commission on investigating the August war events is going to disclose its report at the end of September.

Schram had working meetings with high-rank officials of the Georgian authorities and at the end of his visit held a briefing organized by the "Rezonanci" newspaper. Schram told the journalists that, in order to investigate the causes of the conflict of the Georgian state in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the commission had started to study the history of the last twenty years, reports the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "We need to understand the cause of the conflict in its dynamics and then make a conclusion on the events of the war", noted the diplomat.

According to Schram, he is satisfied with his cooperation with both parties and the commission intends to publish its conclusion at the end of September. It is not going to be a court verdict, the commission only analyses the problem and has no powers of the court, notes Uve Schram.
