Gannushkina: version that they killed Estemirova to do harm to Kadyrov fails

The version of Natalia Estemirova's murder for the sake of causing harm to President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov can be excluded from consideration in view of the circumstances of the murder. This was stated by Svetlana Gannushkina, chair of the public charitable organization for helping refugees and forced migrants "Civil Assistance", head of the network "Migration and Law" of the HRC "Memorial".

"Now, a lot is spoken that Estemirova's murder was a tool to discredit Ramzan Kadyrov, and that this execution was directed against him. And President Medvedev said a surprising, for a person with legal education, phrase that the version of Ramzan Kadyrov's involvement in this murder was unacceptable for the authorities and primitive," Ms Gannushkina said in her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She regards that "the version is simple, but the murder was committed in such a manner that it's ridiculous to say that it was directed against Ramzan Kadyrov." In this case, as Mr Gannushkina asserts, the "execution" should have been staged in Chechnya, "in a demonstrative manner, so that to obviously impose guilt on Chechen authorities."

In her opinion, the fact that the witness of the crime hesitated to address law enforcement bodies means that people are scared.
