Azerbaijan: arrested bloggers sue the police

The arrested bloggers and youth activists Adnan Gadjizade and Emin Milli have lodged a suit against the Sabail District Police Department. It will be considered on July 23 by the Sabail District Court of Baku under the chairmanship of Famil Nasibov.

Isakhan Ashurov, Gadjizade's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that when detaining bloggers on July 8, policemen admitted serious violations of the rights of the youth activists.

In particular, according to Mr Ashurov, for 24 hours the young men were not allowed to contact their advocates. Besides, they were deprived of medical aid, although they had been seriously beaten when attacked at the Restaurant "Lebanon". Moreover, at detention the young men were handcuffed to each other.
