Woman from Stavropol Territory convicted for attempt to sell a newborn
On Tuesday, June 16, the Promyshlenny District Court of the city of Stavropol sentenced a local resident named Tamara Konova, a local resident, who tried to sell a newborn child for 100,000 roubles.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Promyshlenny District Court of the city of Stavropol that Ms Konova was detained in November 2008 by employees of the UBOP (Department for fighting organized crime) of the Territorial GUVD. Presenting herself as an employee of the territorial perinatal clinical centre, she organized an illegal deal with a newborn, having found a mother, ready to sell her child, and a matrimonial couple who wanted to have it.
Besides, Konova was accused of other crimes, including plunder.
Despite all the mitigating circumstancesadmission of her guilt and compensation of material damage to the suffered persons, the court, which considered the case in a special regime, appointed not a conditional, as it was expected, but a real term of imprisonment to her.
